Welcome to Fred's Skydive for MS: Taking Flight for a Cause!
I'm thrilled to share that this year will be my seventh skydiving adventure and my third dedicated leap to benefit the National MS Society. Having been personally touched by the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis, I've found immense purpose in channeling my passion for skydiving into tangible change for others grappling with this condition. My journey into the sky began in 2016, during a challenging period of my life where I was confined to bed due to a debilitating pressure sore. It was in those difficult moments that I decided to break free and see the world from a vantage point few dare to venture—above the clouds. Thus, my infatuation with skydiving was sparked. Over the years, skydiving has transformed from a mere thrill-seeking activity into an annual mission aligned with the Walk MS event each May. This adventure offers me not just exhilarating excitement but also a powerful platform to raise both awareness and critical funds for a cause so close to my heart. Though my past skydiving events have been supported by the wonderful team at Skydive at Cross Keys in Williamstown, NJ, this year I'll be taking my leap of faith at Skydive Sussex in Sussex, NJ. This change in location is due to their unique ability to accommodate disabled skydivers. A heartfelt shoutout to Lauren and Kyle, the dynamic husband-and-wife duo who own the facility! My motto has always been, "I can't walk, but I can fly!" Skydiving liberates me from the physical constraints that Multiple Sclerosis imposes, giving me a fleeting yet powerful sense of freedom as I soar through the sky, wind in my hair and heart pounding with exhilaration. This year, I'm ramping up my fundraising game, particularly leveraging the reach and influence of social media. But remember, I can't achieve this monumental task alone. I invite you to be part of this awe-inspiring journey. Whether you're up for diving into the sky alongside me or prefer to cheer me on from solid ground, every contribution—large or small—has a profound impact. Your love, encouragement, and support mean the world to me. Together, let's make a meaningful difference in the lives of those wrestling with Multiple Sclerosis. Thank you for joining me on this incredible voyage. |
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
The National MS Society goes far beyond the realm of medical research in its mission to support those affected by Multiple Sclerosis. Living with MS comes with a financial burden that can be as taxing as the condition itself. In my own experience, the Society has been an invaluable lifeline, providing assistance in a myriad of practical ways. This includes grants for modifying my vehicle for accessibility, funding a shower remodel to enhance safety, offering financial aid to offset the cost of a wheelchair, and even facilitating transportation to crucial medical appointments. Their contributions extend well beyond dollars and cents, offering a much-needed sense of empowerment and independence. |
